This site serves as a repository of information for anyone involved or interested in the forest products industry. At ForResWeb, you can find links to everything from useful industry associations to cutting edge research articles and most things in between.

One of the primary goals of this website is to offer a ‘one stop’ resource for most everything an entrepreneur needs for exploring new forest products and market opportunities. This includes tabs which offer help on quantifying the value proposition through statistics and trends and providing extensive listings of product, market and competition research studies.  This includes supporting industry associations, government agencies, and First Nations specific resources.

The final piece of the puzzle is the process of putting one’s business idea down on paper.  This needs to be done in a structured way that clearly identifies the value proposition.  And just as importantly in many cases, sells the idea to a prospective funder.  This is the business plan.

There are a number of business plan templates that exist out there, and there is no wish to promote one over another.  We have picked one that is believed to be thorough, straightforward to navigate, and offers support if needed–the template offered by Business Development Canada (BDC).  The template and a filled out example can be found here.

FIRST NATIONS
Forest products industry information relevant to First Nations ventures can be found under the First Nations tab.

GOVERNMENT
Under the Government tab, you will find government resources from the BC provincial and the Canadian federal governments.

RESEARCH
If you simply want to see what’s out there in terms of academic research on a particular subject, go to the Research tab where you can choose whether you would like to browse by Universities, or research industry groups (Forestry Innovation Investment or FPInnovations).

INDUSTRY
If you are looking for industry groups or associations, you can go to the Industry tab and look through our comprehensive list of industry Associations or research industry groups (Forestry Innovation Investment or FPInnovations) to find the link you are looking for.

If you’ve got something in mind, but aren’t sure where you might find it, simply type in some key words in the Search bar at the top right-hand corner of the page. For example, if you type in the word ‘Japan’ in the Search bar, you will get a list of all pieces of information on our site, organized by tab, related to this country.  This will include research reports, association and government activities and so on.
